What? Thursday? Well, for most folk, I am sure it is. However it is a three day weekend for me! A much needed one. work has been totally sucky this week. I need a short escape! But it won’t be all fun times on the 3-dayer. My kitten, using the term loosely since The Heat, is going in for her spay tomorrow. It is something we need to do as responsible pet owners. Sure she is purebred, but we have no intention of breeding her. In fact, we didn’t even purchase her with breeding rights. But all that aside… I am worried about it. She is a bit young as far as normal spaying age. She is also a bit small. Siamese are narrow mid-sized cats and she is nowhere near full grown. So as easy and common as a spaying is I am concerned about my baby.

So Friday morning I drop her off. I plan to then do my errands around town so that when I pick her up later I can stay home and observe… Like a good cat-dad. If all goes well and there are no issues with healing or getting picked at by Coco we are going to a Game Night (yet to be confirmed tho, where’s the official email?) on Saturday. Sunday I’d like to Geocache or rollerblade if the weather holds.

Hmm. Sounds basic. I need to throw in bacon somewhere in these plans…

So if you have ever been to our house you have heard stories of Bad Neighbor Kitty. We aren’t quite sure where he lives. He torments our cats by hanging out outside the windows. He torments us by peeing in our yard and knocking stuff over. He torments the neighborhood by sitting in the road and yowling for no reason. It’s a hoot. In that really annoying way. Anyhoo, the other day he caught a bird. One of the birds that lived in our backyard all spring. He saw me pull up and darted into the bushes. The bird just seemed to have bent feathers. I figured he’d be okay, not realizing that it couldn’t fly well, since it managed to fly into our backyard. Well apparently he has been grounded since. Because Richard was out with our cat Coco, who found the bird in the bushes and tried to bring it in the house. Yes, I said he tried to bring it into the house. Ew. So it turns out that Bad Neighbor Kitty has been toying with the mangled bird for the last 2 days because I have heard him yowling in the backyard in the night, and the little bird was clearly much worse off and bleeding.

What do we do? Clearly it’s nature (kinda) taking course. The little bird is at this point in the neighbor’s yard (Richard tried to move him and he managed to fly that far). I don’t think he’s long for this world, and I can hear Bad Neighbor Kitty close by… Yowling.

I was working on the fish tank when I heard something fall. I stopped what I was doing. One of the cats, Chanel, looked startled. I thought in that second that maybe the cats were playing. They do that. But the sound continued and Chanel was in front of me. I went up the stairs. What could they have knocked down? I turned the corner and there was Coco. I thought he was dying. He was at the foot of the stairs. His legs were all akimbo. He was rolling his head oddly and kept pressing his forehead into the bottom step. I was freaking out. I spoke his name calmly and put my hand out. He let me pet him and slowly steadied himself.

He wasn’t dying. He was dizzy. He had fallen down the stairs.

Now that I know he’s alright, nothing broken or anything, it’s kinda funny. What the hell? How did a cat fall down the stairs??? Should I worry? He is getting older…
