You guys. OMG. Brian of cheapblueguitar fame just left. I miss him already.
Yes, it was only our second meeting face to face. Yes, he stayed with us all weekend. Yes, it was awesome.
It all started Friday evening. I had had a CRAZY workweek. I got home later than expected and had to do this wonder woman twirl and show up at the airport. Richard was off later than me! He didn’t even get to twirl! Anyhoo, we arrived at the airport at the proper time, snatched Brian off the curb and took him basically across the street to out favorite “toast to your arrival” location, C-Level. It offers the most amazing view of downtown San Diego I have discovered yet. Also, I am now mayor of that venue on FourSquare. HA! (I literally screamed like a girl. My first real mayorship couldn’t be more awesome!) From there we of course took Brian to Urban Mo’s, our local gay hot spot. Drinks were had. And so yeah. The post below, Touched for the Very First Time occurred. Because Mo’s virgins get a sticker!
The next day we did the Marathon Tourist Day. We kicked it of with brunch at R-Gang Eatery (where the Bloody Marys were a MEAL). Then it was off to Balboa Park, where Brian and I (okay, more ME) were enamored with a band of robotic singing pantomimes. I immediately bought the CD on iTunes and friended them on Facebook. LOVE STEAM POWERED GIRAFFE!!! OMG! It’s like this amazing retro-gothic-sexy-funny Robots that performed on the side walk near the pond on The Prado. LOVE.
After that we were off to downtown to catch the ferry (on Joelle's">Joelle’s of Tenth-muse.com suggestion) which was amazing. We took a few pics (one upside-down) on the boat. Then it was all about strolling on the Island. We lunched at the Coronado Brewery where Brian enjoyed beer with an orange wedge. Yummm? We followed that up with cocktails on our friend Sheila’s patio. Luxury. After that it was a quick stop at the Coronado Cupcakery for dessert and catching the ferry home! And much needed sleep!
Then it was Sunday. The Big BBQ Day. All our local besties were present! (Twitter names to follow) @goostersd, @uberglitterati, @tenthmuse, @richardallen, @dano413, and non-twitter Matt. Such a great time at the Tiki Bar (which is now an official place on Foursquare) Around 7 I had to rush Brian off to the airport! I got back in time to clean the kitchen…
It was the best weekend ever. We all love Brian, and no one wanted him to go home to the fiery hot Phoenix…

So… What has been up with me? I wouldn’t have to constantly pose that question to myself if I posted daily like I used to.
Oh well.
Last Tuesday I made a giant leap out of my box. I went shopping with… not Richard, but a friend. It was our first outing by ourselves that wasn’t at a bar so it was a bit awkward at times. I really only hang out with Richard or other people with Richard around. I am not used to carrying a whole half of a conversation! (What? You people know I can be a *touch* anti-social…) Anyhoo, it was a fun time and we are still texting so I must not have been too freakish and boring… Then it was a spontaneous 3 day weekend!! I hadn’t known Richard was gonna be off Friday till like late Monday and ran to my boss to see about a possible day off. Which I got! So we spent Friday doing more shopping. I know. I shop a lot. But it was more for Richard. Then Saturday was the big rugby game. You see, one of our new friends is a player for the San Diego Armada.
... a purposely-inclusive and diverse non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the sport of rugby within Southern California by providing a safe and supportive environment where novice-level players can learn the game or improve their skills.
It was a great time. We hung out with our peeps while watching the game, which was the first home game of the season. I was shocked how much I knew about rugby. I mean, not a lot but waaaay more than I thought! The other team got all “Glee” on us in the beginning, which was kinda funny. It turned out to be some tradition or something. Anyhoo, our boys won! GO TEAM! (Post-game photo was happening, look at our boys!)
The rest of the day was kinda low-key. We wrapped up the weekend at Happy Hour at Candelas on The Bay. Amazing view, great friends, and HALF OFF FOOD AND BOOZE!! LOL.
I love my weekends off. Srsly.

OMG. It’s anniversary day! As is my tradition, seen here, I did nothing. I knew it was coming, just like last year. I still work *at* the mall so shopping or a card would be easy enough. I just can’t get it together… After reading last years post I am a bit jumpy, worried some box or something is gonna pop out of somewhere leaving me to feel like a total heel. I thought we agreed tho. We get another iPhone. That is the gift, so we each end u with killer phones! Yay!
We are spending the day at a friend’s house for a BBQ and hopefully fireworks. She lives on Coronado Island, so we should be able to see the show without too much effort! There is champagne chilling in the fridge for later tonight. And we have a week off. I think that is a pretty good start on Anniversary festivities!
Anyhoo. Happy Anniversary Richard! Thank you for keeping me company all these years…

Today we are going to a garden party on Coronado Island.
Doesn’t that sound grand?

Christmas time is almost done. I am soooo excited. Do I even have to tell you? Heh. So excited.
I actually had a nice holiday. Christmas eve we had nibbley things and hung out at the house. We toasted the end of the holiday shopping season with champagne! We watched A Christmas Story. I love that stupid movie! Then the next day we slept in, as I mentioned. I baked up some naughty treats for breakfast. Did a few chores. Oh, come on! I know chores on Christmas kinda sucks… But we had been working the past 7 days!! So anyhoo, after that business was done we got all pretty to meet the girls for Christmas Lunch. (It’s not just lunch that day, it’s got to be Christmas Lunch.) Good thing we dressed up too. You should see how gorgeous the gals looked… In fact you can, on my Flickr! So it was me and my Richard, Sheila, and her two lovely daughters having a holiday meal outside at the waterfront Marriott on Coronado Island. On Christmas. With a view of downtown. Can you even? I love living in San Diego.
Today was a harsh shove back into reality as I once again returned to work. But really it was fine. Still, I cannot wait till my long weekend.

Well I have to say, Richard’s birthday week is a smashing success. He has been busy every single day! I’d like take all the credit for that, but I cannot. It has been because of some pretty amazing guys we know too. So after the big bash at the Baja Betty’s and Urban Mo’s I thought Richard might have been down for the count. He was throwing up after all… (Alcohol is a very dangerous drug.) However, he was up before me the next morning, bright eyed and bushy tailed! I think it was a birthday miracle!
As promised, our friend Captain called about the rollerblading plans we were hatching the night before. Wow! I really had thought all of that would have been lost to multiple hangovers in the group. Not so much, it seems. So we got ourselves ready to rollerblade and do lunch in Coronado. What do you wear for that?! Coronado is a place I like to dress a bit nicer. Nicer than I would to rollerblade! So I had to forgo the do-rag. We ended up skating 11 miles in to Coronado, by way of The Silver Strand. We were against the wind and going up a very slight grade. Those Bloody Marys we had at the Hotel Del were well earned I tell you! The way back was tougher, even though it was with a tail wind and down a slight grade. Well, for me anyways. My feet got all tore up again. Something about that Strand, cause our other skating adventures haven’t blistered me like that. So I was injured. And bitchy. Captain bought me bandages for the way back. It was pretty pathetic, but I survived. It was 22 miles round trip. I made it for about 20, and then my speed-skating partners showed up with the car.
From there we went to the Jamba Juice to replenish our fluids for some grocery shopping. We picked up some things for dinner, including Captain’s charming husband and headed back to our place for some bbq and a movie. Death Becomes Her of course. We like to watch it Rocky Horror style at this point, reciting all the lines and shouting at the screen. Good times!
This morning Richard is at a brunch at Lips with his work peeps. I was thinking of going in to work. I don’t want to though. You see, we are getting ready for this “visit”. There is an unspoken pressure for me to go in on my days off. I plan to go in Tuesday. That puts me at 6 days for the week and 8 days in a row. I feel that, plus the longer hours I’ll be doing on Monday, Tuesday, AND Wednesday is enough. And it is. But my shit had better be READY if I don’t stop in today. I hate this shit!!
Either way, I want to something ‘just the two of us’ to wrap up the festivities. Who knows when he’ll be done at lips though…
