I’m a Mom!
bloggingwhat's up?

Today I spent the afternoon with my first blog baby!

I am so excited. A friend of mine had expressed an interest in having a website some time back. He has a unique twitter name and when I saw it was available as a URL I bought it for him. I mean, there is a German band by the same name, so no screwing around! I had to act! Later in the year for his birthday I bought him a year of hosting and installed Wordpress, basically put the site online. Today I handed him the keys…

*swells with pride*

I think this is gonna be big. He is a man with a lot of potential as well as talent. I think if it all works out well having a site online (no matter how he decides to utilize it) will be an important step. He’s starting as a personal blog type site, but I have a feeling that it will end up somewhere else entirely. The guy is smart and his business savvy and branding knack will evolve this thing. I’m just glad he got HIS domain name. As long as that is owned he can be on/off line as it suits him, in whatever form he likes. Gotta admit tho, I am having a lot of fun helping with a new blog. I am no designer or anything, but I will help in anyway I can. It’s fun for me! And when he’s famous I plan to make him sign shit I can put on eBay… LOL j/k! (kinda wink )

I will post links all over my blog as soon as he has some content and gives me a ‘green light’...

Weekend Wrap-Up
what's up?

So… What has been up with me? I wouldn’t have to constantly pose that question to myself if I posted daily like I used to.

Oh well.

Last Tuesday I made a giant leap out of my box. I went shopping with… not Richard, but a friend. It was our first outing by ourselves that wasn’t at a bar so it was a bit awkward at times. I really only hang out with Richard or other people with Richard around. I am not used to carrying a whole half of a conversation! (What? You people know I can be a *touch* anti-social…) Anyhoo, it was a fun time and we are still texting so I must not have been too freakish and boring… Then it was a spontaneous 3 day weekend!! I hadn’t known Richard was gonna be off Friday till like late Monday and ran to my boss to see about a possible day off. Which I got! So we spent Friday doing more shopping. I know. I shop a lot. But it was more for Richard. Then Saturday was the big rugby game. You see, one of our new friends is a player for the San Diego Armada.

... a purposely-inclusive and diverse non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the sport of rugby within Southern California by providing a safe and supportive environment where novice-level players can learn the game or improve their skills.

It was a great time. We hung out with our peeps while watching the game, which was the first home game of the season. I was shocked how much I knew about rugby. I mean, not a lot but waaaay more than I thought! The other team got all “Glee” on us in the beginning, which was kinda funny. It turned out to be some tradition or something. Anyhoo, our boys won! GO TEAM! (Post-game photo was happening, look at our boys!)

The rest of the day was kinda low-key. We wrapped up the weekend at Happy Hour at Candelas on The Bay. Amazing view, great friends, and HALF OFF FOOD AND BOOZE!! LOL.

I love my weekends off. Srsly.

Long Ass Weekend!
mmm, alchohol...what's up?

Well the Holidays have finally wrapped up here at dp.com. I know, I left the hottie Santa up much longer than usual. If you are still experiencing Christmas please *click here* and you should be good to go.

So with the end of New Year’s I finally got a decent break from work. A 4 day weekend! Richard was home New Year’s Day and so we did a “mini” New Years Eve. Chinese food, champagne, a movie, and a kiss. Awwww! It was nice. We saw Up. It was adorable and I teared up twice. If you haven’t seen it and are in the mood for something fun, get it. On Saturday we had my little Post holiday party. It was a “toast to your survival” theme. We got lots of bubbley and we encouraged the guests to bring a nibble to share. We ended up enjoying some great snacks! My friends rock yo. It turned out to be an interesting mix of people but all seemed to get along and I think everyone had a good time.

The next day found Richard and I a bit over-hung as it were (champagne is mean like that). We figured a greasy yummy brunch was just what we needed. Off to Urban MO’s! The food was good the atmosphere better. We ended up staying right thru the end of the Charger Game! I swear it was one of my butchest moments, watching the game with the boys… LOL Later we went out AGAIN and had a boozy time at the Bar Named After a Body Part (as I call it) with a good friend of ours.

Too much fun. Today was errands and stuff so that tomorrow, our last day off, will be restful. Well, right after we go to the gym anyway… THAT is one thing I have’t done enough this week. I don’t wanna have to make a resolution or anything about it!

Birthday FUN
mmm, alchohol...what's up?

I wish I had pictures. This was the Best Birthday on Record, sweetie!! Wow!!

So yeah, it all started with a $100 gift card from my mother. She srsly rawks. Srsly. THEN, my most amazing and much loved man surprised me! You see, I had twatted at some point that I wanted one of two things for my birthday; a cabana booth at Urban Mo’s with 15 people or nothing. Hahah! I was feeling bitchy and self important that day. Anyhoo. We worked all day Monday. I knew we were going to Mo’s (I kinda got my way), and had my outfit all planned out. I stuck to it even tho my new fake leather jacket was calling me… All primped and ready for whatever we get to Mo’s. And sit. We order appetizers, adult beverages, and read tweets and Brightkite and stuff. After a while Joelle">Joelle and Mikey show up. We gab and enjoy the eats. Joelle and Richard talk about how we scored Premium Seating without having a larger party. I was like… okay. Then our San Diego family Sheila and her daughter show up! Yay! More booze and stuff happened. (the order of events after this point may differ from reality, thank you, vodka) Then Gooster and Gio pop up out of nowhere!! My cabana was getting full! OMG. It was awesome! Also, our server was our good friend Marisol! Other Mo’s peeps were stopping by and giving well wished and stuff. Marisol had provided an inflatable monkey for every one to sign. Yay again! Captain, one of my good friends who actually has never, EVER attended my birthday’s prior arrived. Food, fun, laughter!! Then I saw my BFF Marcus walking over! He had said he might not make it, so I wasn’t expecting him. I was literally amazed at all these people to celebrate with me. I was. Then the super secret surprise guest, someone on Twitter I have been talking to lately who just seems so amazing… @Uberglitterati!!

There was the traditional singing, candle blowing, an odd looking cupcake that I refused to eat, and shots to decline… I stayed hydrated and enjoyed many Cosmos! I tried to talk to everyone but it was overwhelming! So many people!! I have never had a birthday like that. Ever. I had no idea how to behave!! After a bit folks started leaving. I hugged my goodbyes. I so adore everyone that was there. Making an effort to go out on a Monday in December? I love you all soooo much. Nights like that really give you a picture of who in your life is important, even if you don’t see each-other much. When it got down to just us gays we headed to Brass Rail for some twirling and stuff. Fun, fun, fun!

Oi. I wish I had pictures! I have the best man and best friends ever. Srsly. I could cry. You guys rock!!

Then today I found out Richard had invited the new neighbor friends too! I love him extra for that! He made a stellar effort this year… Kudos, you! *kiss*

Wreaths And Junk
what's up?

So I decided this year I’d do the Wreath Auction at Martini’s Above Fourth as damage control. You see, last year Richard went solo, with friends, and actually bought a wreath. For a lot of money. Like a lot. The wreath, while pretty, matches NONE of our existing holiday decor. It was very expensive. OMG I HATE IT!!!

So, anyhoo. This year we went together. It was fun. There were the muscle boys in sleep bottoms, sans shirts, AKA Wreath Models. The wreaths were.. interesting. There was lots of booze. But I gotta say, after hearing about last year, I was disappointed. First and for-most, the wreath models were being abused by this snatch-y queen in an untucked dress shirt and tie. Gross. She was also abusive to the guests. Secondly the wreaths, while impressive, were nothing like the one Richard bought last year that I love to hate. In fact there was only one that compared, and the price immediately soared out of reach, yet 90 percent of them went for chump change!

I was amazed tho, as to the holiday spirit we encountered. There was a man sitting close-by. He was bidding on everything. He had already won a lot of wreaths. He gave our friend 100 dollars to put towards her wreaths if she won any. She didn’t, but the thought behind it meant a lot. Richard bought him a drink or two.

Later we were famished and ditched the auction and went to Urban Mo’s for real food. It was too much fun and after too many drinks, a 7 ft. tall drag queen, and meeting some gay neighbors from a block away, we called it a night. Good night moon!

December… Umm.
what's up?

So yeah. It’s (ugh) holiday time. How’s tricks? I’m doing alright, thanks for asking. I figured I’d… yanno… blog tonight.

I know.

So here’s one! Remember how the past three years I have been forced to work 6 days a week from Thanksgiving to New Years? Well.. Heh. This year, not so much!! I am soo zen about this holiday season I can’t even tell you. It’s a nice feeling knowing I get my days off. Really nice. Although there are no weekends off. But hey, I can drink on a Monday! Woo hoo!

That said, tonight’s really our Wednesday so no going out to play for us. One of our best gal pals came over though! Now how awesome is that? Sitting home with us on a Friday night cause we have to go to bed early… We have awesome friends. Like, srsly. And OMG what is THIS. LOL. My friends rawk. I wanna know what picture that was tho, I had my “new” facial hair in that. OMG.

When Blogs Collide
bloggingwhat's up?

So if you follow my Twitter stream at all, which I’m sure you do, then you know I was in Yuma yesterday. I know what you’re thinking. OMG WTF Yuma?! Haha, yes. You see it is pretty much the halfway mark between Phoenix and San Diego and as such it was where Brian of Cheap Blue Guitar and myself decided to meet. Of course it was a year after deciding that we finally did it! I packed up my man Richard and he packed up Dyanna (@dyanna on Twitter) and we each set out on our 250+ mille journeys.

Oi. It’s totally farther than you think. Richard and I arrived a bit early and went off to explore the mall while Brian and Dyanna did their last 40+ miles. Haha. At exactly 2 PM Daniel from danielphillip.com and Brian of cheapblueguitar.com met face to face. So if your internet konked out at that time or you saw a blinding light, now you know why. LOL. Internet personalities collided. Once we did the always weird ‘I read you and chat with you everyday yet NOW we’re meeting’ thing, it was like chatting with old friends. It took a bit tho, because our waiter wouldn’t give us more than 2 minutes alone at a time. Poor ADD kid… Anyhoo, Brian and Dyanna are as awesome as you think. We gabbed a lot, enjoyed the unique culinary flair of The Outback, and the air conditioning. (I don’t know if you know this about Yuma, but it’s hot. It is past all these sand dunes and really in the desert. It was, I kid you not, eleventy million degrees out there.)

So after lunch we decided to treck out and explore the city.. erm, town. It was kinda like a ghost town. There was no one out, what with the oppressive heat. Also there is not much to see. But that in itself made it fun. We’ll always have Yuma! And I have added two more people to my list of Real Life friends!

Pictures were taken and I’ve swiped them all…

Still Alive…
what's up?

Hi kids, it’s me! I know it’s been a while. A long, long while. I think it was a good thing tho. I mean, the internet and I… well.. we needed time apart. I kept in touch on Twitter tho. I am an internet addict after all.

So where have I been. Hmm. Let’s say I have been on a journey of self improvement. No! Don’t say that. Sounds like I went to rehab for cry eye. Seriously tho, I have spent some time on me. I have hung out with my real-life friends, focused on work a bit more, and re-launched my fitness routine. Not to mention my cat, Versace. Hell, that princess could be a full time job on her own! I have also reconnected with an amazing person from my past. Just this past week actually. So life is good. Life is better even! (Isn’t funny how ya lose 15 pounds and your whole outlook just changes?) I may just have stuff to blog about again… Yayz!

Anyhoo. No promises about writing every day. And the spam has GOT TO BE SOLVED. Yes, I mean that in all caps!

High School Play
what's up?

Last night I went to see my friend’s daughter in a play at her school. I hadn’t set foot on a high school campus since graduation. I can safely say that high school was the worst time of my life. I hated it. The kids were cruel. It made me ill with stress every day to go to school.

That said, I cannot express how proud I am of this young lady to stand on a high school stage in front of her peers and perform. Perform WELL even. When I was her age I dreaded walking down a hallway with my peers, let alone stand up in front of them.

I just wanted to put that out there. Great job yo! I wish I had had an ounce of your confidence when I was your age.

Someone Else’s Archives
link-tastic!

So every time we gather in a group along with Joelle we can’t help but talk about the web, internets, and our blogs. Naturally, right? Kinda? I mean y’all talk about your Facebook pages enough! Anyhoo. So one classic Tenth Muse entry always comes to mind. The first time I read it I was laughing so hard I was crying:
imageFiddy Wouldn’t Front. Awesome.

She has another gem up in there where she actually is calling out for help from the freezer section of a grocery. I tell you the woman has amazing encounters of the odd kind. And having witnessed one or two myself, and can vouch for the authentic-ness of her archives.
