We Weren’t Expecting A Boobie Show!
aw, lovewhat's up?

Last night was a lot of fun. We started out at the Manchester Grand Hyatt. It is the only sky bar in San Diego, so even though the service is kinda cruddy we like it. cocktails and hors d’oeuvres were had. The server was the worst one in that bar to date. As was the bartender. He shook every drink for at least 5 minutes, and when there were no drinks to make he threw napkins at server station. All of which is in plain sight. But the view was great, and the snacks were really good. We ordered a classic cheese plate, as well as the Bavarian Sausage plate. The sausage was amazing. Slices of bratwurst with sauerkraut, a baguette and spicy mustard, mini pickles… I liked the mini pickles! Every time I bit into one Richard said “Surprise!”. You remember, as in Pickle Surprise. Dork. But I laughed every time he did it! After waiting 10 minutes for our check Richard walked over to fetch our soon to be badly tipped server. We settled up and headed out, but only after seeking out a manager. Someone had to be made aware… The most friendly and efficient service we experienced at the Manchester Grand Hyatt that night came from the parking garage cashier, employed by Ace Parking. We were sure to get his name to send compliments to his bosses. I mean, karmic balance and all… We did just rat out the skeevy staff in the bar.

So This is Christmas
mmm, alchohol...what's up?

Well, I hope everyone had a great day. Mine was spent sleeping in. Heh. Couldn’t be helped. I was tired. I am still tired! LOL.

It was a nice day tho. We woke up eventually and had coffee, Richard tried to Irish it up, but ten thirty in the morning was a bit early for booze so I switched to regular… Then it was the family phone call. I am not used to that. I haven’t had that many holidays away from my family. This is only the second! But it was that call where they pass the phone around and I answer similar questions and say similar things over and over. Till it got to my dad. We had a fun conversation! So unlike us.. It was holiday magic I am sure, or that Irish coffee.

Then it was get dressed and off to brunch at the Hotel Del. It was fine. I think we were both hoping for better, and the Hyatt on Thanksgiving was awesome! I guess the Del is a bit of a tourist trap, and we got tourist food. It was fine, but not special.

We have since been relaxing at home and sipping chocolate martinis and watching movies on pay-per-view. We will so regret that next month. Heh! All in all it was a nice day. HOWEVER, the nightmare continues as I have to be at work at six in the morning. Damn! I hate mornings!!!

Anyhoo. holiday kisses from dp.com!

Oh My Gaaaawd. The Food.
mmm, alchohol...mmm, food...what's up?

I know no one cares what I had for lunch, but today is a holiday. A holiday all about food, right? So let me just tell you…

We went to the Manchester Grand Hyatt for CHAMPAGNE Brunch. My idea! I take all the credit. So… we arrive, find free street parking that was literally a walk in the park away, and check in for our 1:15 reservation. We end up waiting for a while, and were finally seated at one thirty. I was a bit worried. I mean it was all my idea. I didn’t want to get in trouble with my man for ruining our one day off together IN MONTHS. No pressure though, right? Anyway, I was a bit concerned as we were led to our table in what turned out to be the ground floor of the hotel.

[off topic] what the goddamn hell is up with San Diego? All these high rise buildings and there are only 2 sky bars?? No top floor restaurants? Poor, poor planning people. Take a cue from San Francisco. We gays LOVE a sky bar. We LOVE a good view while we eat. Your businesses are missing out on a lot more money...[/off topic]

So anyway. We sit down and are immediately greeted with champagne… Richard asked about there being a wine list available to go with the main course or something, and Jorge assured us that with him as our server the champagne glass was never empty. No need for any wine, unless you prefer it?

Erm. No. Champagne is more than fine! The day was looking up! Booze! Seriously though, it was one of the better brunch things we have been to (I have been to many in my life. Mom loves a good brunch), and we were pleased. The food was very diverse. We had plenty of breads, turkey, potatoes, and all that stuff you’d expect as well as a full sushi bar, ravioli made to order, and ham and prime rib and, well you get the idea. Lots of stuff. And the desserts.. omg the desserts! We hung out there and lingered over our food and bitched about San Diegans and their damn flip flops with any outfit.

After that we were homeward bound. Richard blogged at his Vox site. We chilled some of our own champagne and watched movies. Then Grey’s Anatomy. Then Richard had to go to bed cause he has to be at work at 4:30 in the morning tomorrow for all of you folks who shop on Black Friday. Eeeww. Poor guy. So while he’s sleeping, I blog. Don’t be fooled, I work too. I am on the 3 till midnight shift for those of you who sleep in and then shop on Black Friday

Aww Crap
what's up?

Do you realize that Thanksgiving is on Thursday? Thursday! Gah! Where did the year go? So as I am sure I have mentioned somewhere the man and I are going out this year. You see last year was our first year away from my family and I was all like sad and crap. I have to say though, it turned out to be a really special day! Look! I have it in the archives. Heheh. I love that I have archives! Soo handy! Anyway so yeah, our first Thanksgiving here in San Diego on our own we did the whole meal with all the fixin’s just for the two of us. Crazy, right? Keep in mind too, when I say ‘we’ I of course mean Richard. He cooked it all. I am not usually allowed in the kitchen when he is creating a meal. It turned out great.

This year we finally know enough people locally to do up a nice dinner party for the holiday. Ironically our schedules would make it torturous. Where was I going with all of this? Oh yeah, we are going to the Hyatt. Lovingly referred to as the screwdriver by the locals. If you were to see it you’d know why.... It’s supposed to be a brunch type thing I think. No mess, no fuss. Relaxing.

So off topic, if you get time do cruise over to my BFF Betty’s place. She has her parents visiting. Eeeew! Poor thing! I kid. She is going to be busy though so I have been doing some guest posting duties over there. It’s Grandpa Panties Week! Heheh. Lame eh? It amuses my though, and that counts. Not to mention the added bonus of the tightie whities photo I have been including with each post! LOL!
