Whew! What a week! What a summer!
In fact, where did summer go? I mean srsly? It’s already Back to School! (I capitalize it, because in my industry it’s more than period of time, it’s an event.) I have to say tho, I have been having a blast. Every weekend off Richard and I have had places to go, things to do, and met new folks all along the way. It has been the Summer of Twitter, as we have made a few Twitter friends into real friends. That’s always odd at first. Going from contacting someone online thru Twitter, to actually dialing them up on the phone and getting together for drinks or meals. Heh. I love Twitter. Anyhoo, I think my summer is coming to a bit of an early close, as my work schedule has me booked the next three weekends. I don’t socialize much on my working weekends because the hours are just to extreme, what with the 5 and 7 AM starts or the late closing shifts. After the 3 weeks of work my parents arrive. 7 days of tour guide. Wee! Then we are already into October. Bam. holiday. 2 months of loooong work days, few days off… Another year passes.
Do you see why I am always tense? The passing of time is so cruel for us career retail people! Gawd I am stressed out now. Heh.

Okay. I have tried for too many summers to enjoy wearing everyone’s favorite summer fashion. Especially the gays.. The sandal. For some reason this doesn’t work well for me. It’s not that they look bad. Come on! On me? They look HAWT! Duh. It’s just that they hurt. They hurt me bad!
First I tried those really popular leather flip flops. Looked great. But 1 hour in them and the top of my foot was tore up. Literally. I think there was blood. I figured it was that they were to firm. Right? Firm? Yeah. So I went out and got the fabric strap variety. I got to wear them a bit longer… But still. Ow! But no blood. Fabric burn?
The following summer, and my first in San Diego, I went for the retro all plastic/rubber kind with the rainbow stripes in the sole. You know what I mean! These were brown though. Totally retro-gay-hawt. I wore them for two hours and not only did they cut the tops of my feet, but I got rubber burns. Maybe I have sensitive feet?
Last year I didn’t even try. I was sneaker boy when not at work. Sneakers with those foot only socks, you know, for that summer sock-less feeling. Sad.
This year I thought I’d be smart. I would sandal, but in a non-flip flop way. Picture that Nike/Adidas sandal only in a nice criss-cross leather look trimmed with a khaki type fabric. Comfy, nothing between the toes, and a totally different type of over the foot band. I was victorious! I would win the summer footwear war!
Only not. I wore them for one hour. Again rubbed the skin right off the top of my foot. Back to my sneakers.

Where did the year go? Are we seriously looking at holiday?!? Holy hell! Let me just take it slow. Summer cannot end, Is it fall? No. Not here, Not now. Not for me. I have a 3 day weekend coming up and I am going to treat it like a relaxing summer weekend, An Indian summer? When is that? Labor Day has passed? No.
Who cares. I have made my decision. Read my body language. Slow down. One more week of summer. Just for me. Dance with me…
