The parental visit has been fun. A treat even, since I took PTO and have been on vacation with them. However… This “Julie Cruise Director” business is a bitch. Srsly. We have been going every day. I have seen more San Diego than I think ever before. Well, at least a lot for such a short time. Up at 8 or nine, out the door by 10 and just *going*. The Geocaching makes it more interesting, but still… I WANT A DAY OFF!

So tonight I *am* having a martini. Maybe 2 or 3. I am blogging and reading blogs (at least till my father wakes up).

Only 2 days to go! I can do it!

I was just about to get in the shower when it occurred to me that there are only 4 more work days (5 total) till my 6 day vacation! I am so excited… I just had to sit and enjoy the feeling a bit. We aren’t planning to go anywhere, what with gas prices what they are. Probably some local San Diego tourist stuff. We like that kind of thing. Plus the big 4th of July will be happening, and along with that our 11th anniversary. We have big gifts planned… iPhones! I get a 3G and Richard is taking the original! I can’t even wait till the 11th! I don’t know what will be more fun. My new iPhone or watching Richard learn to use his. Heh.

Anyhoo. Now I just need to get thru the next 4 5 days.

Well. It’s official. No more vacation for me. I will be back at work within the hour. This is the toughest part of taking time off! Wish me luck.

Did I tell you that it was our 10 year anniversary? That’s right. Richard and I. Ten years. Together. You know what that is? Upkeep. Painting each others asses. Forever. Heheh. But really. Ten years ago on July 4th I went to Richard’s place for the day, and an evening of fireworks, a movie, and Chinese takeout. There were definitely fireworks! I never actually left after that. So that’s when we celebrate the anniversary. Aw!

But I feel tragic. I figured our super expensive vacation was our ‘gift’ to each other. I mean, it makes sense, right? The Ten Year Travel Excursion? But no. The morning of the fourth there was a card. A Hallmark, so I know he really cares… He filled it out beautifully too. I was touched! And embarrassed. I got no card for him. With all my assuming. Gah. Later that day there was a random box on the desk. I just figured it was the box to some clock he got from GQ for subscribing last month. I wondered why it was there all of a sudden, and moved it aside as I went about my internetting. He walked by and asked why I moved it, and told me to open it. It was a GIFT! He got GIFTS!! I reluctantly opened it. You see, I was all busy assuming. I bought him nothing. This was bad. Turned out it wasn’t a clock box, but a watch. A new watch for me! It’s beautiful!

But the guilt…

We spent the evening with our annual tradition. We had Chinese takeout and watched the movie we watched ten years ago, Death Becomes Her. Then there were fireworks.

Hello? *looks around* Well, looks about the same here inside the ol’ blog. Shel didn’t throw any wild parties, or if he did he sure cleans up well… Oh wait, that picture is crooked. Hrm…

Anyhoo, it is great to be in my own house posting on my blog the normal way. Feels good, yanno? We actually got home around one-ish. There was quite a bit of housework to drudge through. Lemmee tell you all. 2 cats home alone for a week plus open windows? Dusting and vacuuming galore! They were well taken care of, but it looked like those cats threw a party up in here!! I think we are caught up though. More that caught up. I think we did the chores we missed out on this past week too! Phew! Now it’s off to the store. The cupboards are bare and I am getting bitchy from starvation.

I am sooo behind on my internetting.

It’s Shel again from orangelounge.ca, keeping things going around here at dp.com. I had spent some time earlier doing important research to keep things on topic, but I am currently on Rikz’s (the manfriend’s) computer, and therefore I cannot post anything whatsoever on Paris Hilton.

I’m sorry, Daniel. I’ve failed you! I’m a terrible guest blogger.

However, I can fill you in on an important tidbit: I went back to the gym tonight! After two months of not going and gaining back ALL the weight I lost. Boo :( However, I expected to have a pair of burning lungs after 20 minutes of cardio, but I was only a bit out of breath. And really sweaty.

Rikz enjoyed that part a lot. :D But I’ll stop before I get too TMI for you.

Anyways, dear dp.com readers, I hope I can keep you sufficiently entertained in Daniel’s absence. I miss him already!

Since I have been preparing for VACATION, I am a bit behind lately in a lot of things. Apparently my blog is one of them, as I was tagged by Lisa for the ‘8 Things’ meme a while ago. I suck. This should be done already! I think I may have subconsciously been putting it off. I mean really, 8 things you don’t know about me? Come on, I blog the opening of an envelope. I have to wrack my brain here!

Hrm. I need to just jump in, eh? We’ll see what comes to me.

1. I have a mole on my right arm. It has been there since birth. My mom has always said that it was how she felt sure that the hospital never switched babies on her. I hate that mole. It grows freaky hair.

2. I don’t eat fruit. Or nuts actually. Doesn’t that seem odd? Especially for a gay guy. No fruit or nuts Heh. Seriously though, I think it’s a ‘texture’ thing. Fruit grosses me out. Especially apples and oranges. Ew. And bananas are so slimy. Don’t get me started on watermelon. Vile. I am cool with legumes though. Peanuts rock my taste buds!

3. When I was growing up we moved a lot. My dad followed the work, and that meant a lot of schools for us. I never could fit in and hated going to school all my life. Kids are bastards.
