what's up?
In case anyone was wondering where I am tonight… Heh.
Butch Walker was great when we saw him last time, and I am looking forward to this one!
UPDATE: So here’s the thing. Well, wait… I should start by saying that the show was AWESOME. The opening acts were The Adored and Damone. As always when we do a show… we loved the opening acts, The Adored were really cute… fun songs, attitude. Hawt. Damone, as promised, rocked your fucking face off. Totally rock and roll. Metal-ish, old school all new. And a female singer… In between we had karaoke hosted by these two fun girls… Who as it turned out we part of the Let’s Go Out Tonights. As in Butch Wlaker and the Let’s Go Out Tonights! Cuuute. And they were awesome.

Now let’s get to the sucky part. I got my tickets through Ticketmaster. Not through the House of Blues. Mistake number one. We showed up early to have dinner, and witnessed the servers giving out FREE tickets to diners nearby. Okay, suck. Then when we were told we could finish our drinks in the music hall, we walked over, as doors opened at 7. We were turned away because we had to finish our drinks first. Um, crappy! So then we finally get inside the standing room only venue only to find that there WERE in fact seats. Seats that we could not sit in. They are only part of the dinner package. The one not offered on Ticketmaster. We *could* upgrade for an additional 20 bucks though. So we paid 100.00 for dinner (the drinks were pricey… well, mine were). Saw free tickets given out. And now were faced with looking at empty seats as we stood for 3 hours. Unless we wanted to fork out 20 more dollars each. What the hell? Then only to witness the security guards randomly let people have seats. People who CLEARLY had no ticket. Buy the time Butch was on there was a seating free for all. People were knocking down the stanchions! Security was not even looking. After we had been turned away. The show wasn’t even sold out!
Anywho… the show rocked. Butch was, as promised, even better as the main attraction. It was fun… As we were leaving (early because I am old) Richard sought out the manager to express the frustration of the show process. Yeah, we got the ticket thing wrong, but the blatant disregard for their own rules for certain folk was annoying as hell. She agreed, and we get free entrees in the restaurant if we go back. The food and service was really good in there. We did get up-sold a bit (remember the 100 dollar meal? Yeah. It’ll suck paying that off…) that’s a good server, and besides, it was gooood food and drink. We’ll go back. But I’ll take The Casbah for a show over the House of Blues any day.

what's up?
So first I had to work. Bright and early, well not bright, actually it is still dark as I arrive for the 6-3 shifts I am plagued with this weekend. So work, work, work… Then I went home. My husband, or maybe it was me… someone was bitchy. I changed, realized I should have showered, pouted, and then went to the couch. As I was about to drop off into a deep sleep, Richard suggested a trip to the bookstore. He is obsessed with Hillary Clinton right now and had to get a third book about her… After that we were hungry, so he decided we should go to a Mexican place I heard about on the radio. The crew on the Star morning show are always going on about the perfect night out. Dinner at Jimmy Carters and drinks at The Lamplighter. So we went to Jimmy Carters for take out, and while we waited I INSISTED on a drink at The Lamplighter. It was *just* what I wanted it to be… Old, retro cute, kinda smelly, and filled with characters. I fell in love with the place. I even took a picture, as you can see if you scroll down. Heh. As we walked in this fabulous butch looking lipstick lesbian type was belting out this great song that of course I cannot remember now… It was a perfect song for the place. She was at the bar, singing, bitching about her shots not coming fast enough. The hawt blonde bombshell bartender brought her a regular sized glass of booze and a beer chaser. Did I mention that at 5 on a Sunday afternoon it seemed to be a total drinker’s bar. They made me the strongest margarita I have had in a long time. And I think I had the only fluffy drink in the place! Apparently they do karaoke in the evenings too. Heh. I’d love to see that. Anyhoo, I was drinking my glass of booze and lime too slow so Richard went out to pick up our order. In the meantime these two guys that had come in a while ago began to discuss whether I had been with with Richard, or if I was on my own. I think it was my little comedy vogue routine I had been doing when the jukebox was blaring Tom Jones ‘It’s Not Unusual’ that had gotten their attention in the first place. Did I mention that my drink was strong? Anyway, Richard returned with the food, and we went home and watched Basic Instinct 2. That movie was so damn hot. I don’t care if it flopped. I LOVE Sharon Stone in that role…. Over played or not. It is so damn sexay! Heh. And now I am up waaaay to late for my final 6-3 shift of the 3 day weekend. Then I will sleep Tuesday, celebrate Richard’s birth on Wednesday, a day early… but the best I could do. Then… well, Butch Walker on the 13th! Hollar!! I have to try to sleep now. Gah!

what's up?
1) A dark room with bright spotlights and a camera-phone on ‘zoom’ does not produce the best mobloging results. Disappointing, yet makes sense.
2) When you already have an angry stomach adding vodka and taco kitty is not a good idea.

Actually I loved the whole show. We saw Cary Brothers, Gary Jules, and Jim Bianco as well as the Butch Walker and Imogen Heap. The best part was the setting. The Casbah is a bit small. Okay, really small. There’s only like 12 seats, the rest is standing room only. The stage is just right there. I love that.
While not performing, all of the artists kinda mingled with the crowd and watched the show. I thought it was funny that for as much as people screamed when Imogen finally went on, no one knew what the hell she looked like. She stood in the crowd with her boyfriend, totally undisturbed for nearly an hour! After she had been on, totally different story. We got to chat with her a bit though, as well as Cary Brothers. Richard chatted actually, as I pried myself through the people and tried to smile and nod appropriately…. He’s so good at gettin’ in there! Didn’t get near the Butch though. We ended up leaving early. We had both worked all day and had to work today. It was a school night.
Anyway, it was a good time. I really need to update my music collection a bit now.
