Domestic And Low Sugar Or Something..
mmm, food...what's up?

Clearly I am a domestic goddess. Well, god actually. Either way, I have done grocery shopping, I have laundry going, and I just took a cake out of the oven. In just a bit I will be making dinner. I rock! I also called my mom, but she didn’t answer. I am all family-domestic today!

Just so you know, it is a low sugar cake that I am trying out. I have found that the most effective weight loss trick for me was to cut out sugar, so I am looking to find ways to have all the normal things I like in a low sugar form. Sheesh! I sound like I have one hell of a sweet tooth. I don’t actually, but I enjoy baking things and having dessert on occasion. Most of my sugar was in the red wine I love so much… and the types of packaged foods I brought for lunch (you’d think yogurt was harmless…) So anyhoo, whatever it takes. I was up to a 40 inch waist on my pants and now I am almost ready to explore the world of 36. I think I can handle no/low sugar along with my usual low fat.

Okay, I gotta create a meal. Richard isn’t home yet, but I don’t wanna eat too late. Besides, we’ve been arguing all day anyway. I can eat on my own.

Miss Betty Crocker, Gurl!
making a livingwhat's up?

I am baking a cake. A gooood cake. I want some, but I will refrain. I don’t want to spoil my diet on sweets. Last night’s dinner was naughty enough, and if I am gonna indulge I’d rather that than cake. The reason I am baking is for the bake sale at work. The one benefitting a charity. The one that I organized. Can you even?? I am pretty excited to see how many (and IF any) other folks participate. You see, these things are really more of a popularity contest. If the staff is not happy with me by majority, I will see no participation. The cause makes no difference. Is that sad? It is isn’t it? Anyway, my big tactic was to reply in the affirmative when asked if I was bringing something, cause you know I have talked to everyone about it to get more desserts up for sale. “Not only am I making a cake…”, I’d say, “It’ll be a bundt cake!” Of course I said that last part with as much sparkle as I could muster for effect.

I am a nerd. But it made folks giggle, and if I get more participation, we’ll raise more cash. This concludes my baking story of the day.

The cake smells amazing though. Mmmm.

Holiday Potluck
lunchtime pollmaking a living

I hate the potluck scenario at work. Not all the time, we have some great cooks. This time of year though it’s a bit ... ew. There are all those random seasonal people you don’t know very well. You don’t know their kitchen standards! Not that you know anyone’s really. So anyway. We are doing this full on catered holiday lunch at work for all associates. However, the idea is the potluck style desserts. My instinct is to not play along, and avoid random desserts. In fact, that was the plan until my boss hinted that all managers should participate. Okay, so now I need to go to Ralphs. Right?

Well Richard is trying to talk me into baking a cake. Specifically the devil’s food pound cake. I figure just getting something is fine but he thinks the effort of baking an actual cake would be noticed.

That would put me baking at midnight tonight after a long workday. What do you think internet? Bake or Buy?

Hi. I'm Daniel. This is my blog. I don't update like I used to, but my awesomeness requires an actual website.
