So I decided this year I’d do the Wreath Auction at Martini’s Above Fourth as damage control. You see, last year Richard went solo, with friends, and actually bought a wreath. For a lot of money. Like a lot. The wreath, while pretty, matches NONE of our existing holiday decor. It was very expensive. OMG I HATE IT!!!
So, anyhoo. This year we went together. It was fun. There were the muscle boys in sleep bottoms, sans shirts, AKA Wreath Models. The wreaths were.. interesting. There was lots of booze. But I gotta say, after hearing about last year, I was disappointed. First and for-most, the wreath models were being abused by this snatch-y queen in an untucked dress shirt and tie. Gross. She was also abusive to the guests. Secondly the wreaths, while impressive, were nothing like the one Richard bought last year that I love to hate. In fact there was only one that compared, and the price immediately soared out of reach, yet 90 percent of them went for chump change!
I was amazed tho, as to the holiday spirit we encountered. There was a man sitting close-by. He was bidding on everything. He had already won a lot of wreaths. He gave our friend 100 dollars to put towards her wreaths if she won any. She didn’t, but the thought behind it meant a lot. Richard bought him a drink or two.
Later we were famished and ditched the auction and went to Urban Mo’s for real food. It was too much fun and after too many drinks, a 7 ft. tall drag queen, and meeting some gay neighbors from a block away, we called it a night. Good night moon!
So I must have a 3G iPhone. That is a given. The original plan was that Richard would take over the old iPhone, I would get a new one. However after viewing the complete WWDC we think it would be best just to get 2 new phones. Ridiculous right? But at only $199 each it’s not so impossible. So we started looking into cost per month. That search led to this:
As with the original iPhone, you’ll have to sign up for a 2-year contract in order to grab an iPhone. The iPhone 3G will have slightly higher data plan prices than the original model: individual users will now pay $30/month for unlimited data [2G plan was $20 per month unlimited]
Erm… Okay so my bill goes up *another* 10 bucks, like last time (I already had a hefty data plan on my SLVR). To add Richard is $30. So now we are looking at a $160 per month for cell phones. Crazy. Even I find that high, what with gas practically at $5 per gallon… So now we are looking at shutting off the land line, which I wouldn’t miss except for the DSL. You see, we never *went* cable. (Remember the “LOG OFF!” commercials?) We are on DSL and shutting of the land line means dealing with initiating cable and new computer network settings and all that drama…
Bah. I will go 3G. Richard will just take my phone. It’s more phone than he needs as is. We will shut off the land line this summer.
How many phone numbers do two old queens need anyhow?
UPDATE: I just found out (I forget where? VentureBeat! That was it…) Anyhoo, there will be NO included SMS messaging in the 3G plan. What’s that mean? Every text costs money unless you sport another 5-10 bucks on top of the 30 per month. *cries*
I haven’t bought sunglasses in at least 5 years. And I have never had Versace anything… Good lawd. I have definitely done my part to stimulate the economy today.
Oh my gaaawd, Can you believe that next week at this time we will be IN Florida?? In Florida! Shut up! I am so excited. Well, mostly excited. I kinda flubbed the hotel arrangements. As in I booked too soon because I felt last minute. You see, the plane tickets have us flying into Orlando. We wanted to do the Disney and Epcot thing first, then drive down to the ‘rents. So we needed a room for at least two nights to get the bang for the buck at the parks, right? So I panicked as we got tooo close to the date, and booked a room on my own. A room in the park, but not Disney. Only to find out that had we booked with Richard’s AAA we would have saved some serious money. They have a lot of package deals with the Disney. As in the same as what I paid for the room with multi-day, multi-park tickets INCLUDED. *&%$#. Or in english, DAMN!!
Ah well, live and learn. We have airfare. We have a hotel. We have the rental car. We have my parents. All we need now are Magic Your Way Park Hopper tickets and all our dreams will come true. Just in time for our tenth anniversary.
Get your friends and loved ones a gift they’ll never ever, ever, ever forget. The gift of money. Imagine their name and/or message spelled out in real one dollar bills! ...Also available are unique sculptures of birds, animals, cartoon characters, religious icons, and more.
I often notice people in my line of work and wonder how they live. I mean, when I am on a closing shift and taking my lunch at 5 or 6 I see a lot of people out leisurely shopping. I wonder what it is they do that they are already off of work, dressed casual and out shopping by that time. Where do they get their money? Same thing in my neighborhood, though not as much. There are those who seem to always be jogging, or going off to the clubhouse while the rest of us are grunting at work. How do they do it? What is it they are doing? They don’t *seem* smarter than me, in fact I would guess they are less smart. These idiots refuse to get on the sidewalk.
But really, I am often jealous of the Jones’... Are you?
I spent the morning waiting for an electrician. We have a light that doesn’t work. It’s built in, so I figured it was covered by the home warranty. It wasn’t. I should have read the fine print! So he shows up, determines by looking that it is the “fixture” and not an “electrical” issue, and states he can do nothing about it. Then he hangs out for the next half hour chatting with Richard and walking around in shoes. (We usually don’t expect someone doing work to remove their shoes…) He had on some sour cologne too. Ugh.
So that was 55 dollars wasted. And unpleasant.
Now I am just milking the time thing, as I had already planned on being late. May as well have a relaxing extended morning (seeing as it is already 1:30). Maybe another cup of coffee…
