What do we sing about, when we sing about the body? The chart, based on a sample of thousands songs, tells the story. The size of a circle corresponds to how often that part is mentioned in each genre. Click on a genre name to see a close-up that shows exactly what words were used.
My workday was a bit longer than I expected it to be. Someone was late so I kinda had to stay. I hate when that happens, but I am using it as my excuse to sleep in tomorrow. I was supposed to be in at 6 again, but that 6-3 business just kills me. I hate waking up at 4. Somehow that seems more like nighttime than morning, yanno? 5 is sooo much better. Well, I’d actually prefer to sleep till 10 but beggars and choosers and junk. At least I had no plans today. Richard is doing a gourmet meal tonight tho, so it is good that I was not forced to stay thru till closing. Heh. Oh, and it’s Grammys night! Just kidding. We prolly won’t watch that. Three and a half hours of acceptance speeches? Erm, no. Plus I am not thrilled enough with the music scene right now to care.
Oh, here’s something! I don’t think I mentioned that Richard got a new car. His lease was up so it was time for the next one. It’s another Passat, but much sportier than his last one. Maybe we’ll do pictures soon. It’s cute! Heh.
Do I talk funny? It was mentioned to me that I use a different ‘vernacular’ in the blog. I had never thought about it. I do sprinkle in a few words that I may not use as much in life. ‘Yo’ would be an example. I do say it, but probably not as often as I type it. For the most part I try to like, type things out as though I were saying them. I think it makes for more interesting reading, yanno? Anyhoo. It was weird that he mentioned that. Now I am going to be all self conscious aboot it. Well at least today. Tomorrow I will have forgotten all about it.
So Richard had people over last night. To be honest I was not too thrilled at first. I have never been one to just have folks swing by. Especially this time of year when I am on social-overload from spending so much time at work. Glad he did tho, it turned out to be just what I needed. Good company, holiday music and cheap wine. Heh. Oh, and Jackie Beat. No, we didn’t all gather around the computer. That would be nerdy. But I did have Jackie singing in the background.. She apparently has a CD. I need to look into that, cause she’s like really funny.
Oh, and big news! Remember back when I asked you all to go and vote for the Armani thing? Well thank you, if you did! It turns out that our man Ryan Barry won! I read about it on Towleroad this morning…
So yesterday I expressed a desire to not have to deal with Christmas music at work. Well, guess what? Clearly I jinxed myself, or my gut feeling was right. The Christmas music has begun. Sure it’s not full force. It’s sprinkled in, like every other song or so. But still, when I got to my office and realized what I was hearing I had a strong desire to stab my ears with a pen…
Maybe I’ll switch the site over to the holiday theme this week. You know, just give in. Immerse myself in holiday goodness.
I have been very lucky so far. Even though my place of work looks like a Christmas wonderland (ew), the music has stayed normal. But I know that any day now that could change. Any day now…
Last year we heard the first few Christmas songs the day after Halloween. Doesn’t that seem a bit too early? I don’t know when it’ll start this year, just please don’t let it be today. Please.
First podcast of ‘07!!! This is the one you’ve been waiting for! Daniel talks about work (again), the holidays (again), furniture, the house, and Richard. He tries to remember something, and fails. A rollicking ride! Death Becomes Her. Shirley Q. Liquor. Hollar!
rol-lick-ing (RL-kng)
adj.
Carefree and high-spirited; boisterous: a rollicking celebration.
That I was ruining Christmas. Ruining Christmas!! Richard really said that! Why? He doesn’t like my non-traditional holiday music selection. Can You believe it? How rude!
Well he changed his tune real fast when he heard this one… I think it’s his new holiday favorite!
