what's up?
Hello from Sunny San Diego, where today it rained. For like 5 minutes. Luckily I wasn’t having a parade! LOL, no. Just a day at the beach with my Hungarian Man. We wanted to something different, away from the constant company of friends and booze. So we went to the beach with a make-shift picnic lunch and some bottled water. We ate at a table amongst all of the tourists at Mission Beach and then went on a long hike/walk around the paths throughout the park. It was nice. We actually chatted the entire time about a lot of things. It’s can be awkward, that first actually *alone together* date. We did just fine. *grin*
In other news, the weekend was again a blast. I think my new job will have to offer weekends off. They are my favorite times!! Thursday was our early weekend kick off hanging with @lazSD and his roomies as well as some lingering out-of-towners from pride. I may or may not have drank too much and was home early (thanks to @lazSD). Friday was a much needed night in. My cat has been under the weather with her missing meow and meds. She needed love. I also rented two movies to burn through these free movie coupons from my cable provider Time Warner. So then Saturday I went with @lazSD to take his cat Tigger to the doctor. He has been peeing out of the box, which can be a sign of a UTI. We’ll know Monday. After that we lunched with his roomies (a really great couple) as well as out-of-towners and another couple we are friends with. (Those last guys are online and review places and food on a blog. I’ll have to see if I can link to them…)
Anyway, the unemployed (me) and the frugal (@lazSD) were outvoted and we ended up the the exclusive Martini’s Above Fourth for the rest of the evening. Cheap drinks in a fancy gourmet martini bar? No fun. But we did it. The company was good and we had the whole patio to ourselves. Yay. (There was a drag queen performing inside. If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen her in her ComicCon finery…)
And today is where I started. You are all caught up! Have a fantabulous Monday!

You guys. OMG. Brian of cheapblueguitar fame just left. I miss him already.
Yes, it was only our second meeting face to face. Yes, he stayed with us all weekend. Yes, it was awesome.
It all started Friday evening. I had had a CRAZY workweek. I got home later than expected and had to do this wonder woman twirl and show up at the airport. Richard was off later than me! He didn’t even get to twirl! Anyhoo, we arrived at the airport at the proper time, snatched Brian off the curb and took him basically across the street to out favorite “toast to your arrival” location, C-Level. It offers the most amazing view of downtown San Diego I have discovered yet. Also, I am now mayor of that venue on FourSquare. HA! (I literally screamed like a girl. My first real mayorship couldn’t be more awesome!) From there we of course took Brian to Urban Mo’s, our local gay hot spot. Drinks were had. And so yeah. The post below, Touched for the Very First Time occurred. Because Mo’s virgins get a sticker!
The next day we did the Marathon Tourist Day. We kicked it of with brunch at R-Gang Eatery (where the Bloody Marys were a MEAL). Then it was off to Balboa Park, where Brian and I (okay, more ME) were enamored with a band of robotic singing pantomimes. I immediately bought the CD on iTunes and friended them on Facebook. LOVE STEAM POWERED GIRAFFE!!! OMG! It’s like this amazing retro-gothic-sexy-funny Robots that performed on the side walk near the pond on The Prado. LOVE.
After that we were off to downtown to catch the ferry (on Joelle's">Joelle’s of Tenth-muse.com suggestion) which was amazing. We took a few pics (one upside-down) on the boat. Then it was all about strolling on the Island. We lunched at the Coronado Brewery where Brian enjoyed beer with an orange wedge. Yummm? We followed that up with cocktails on our friend Sheila’s patio. Luxury. After that it was a quick stop at the Coronado Cupcakery for dessert and catching the ferry home! And much needed sleep!
Then it was Sunday. The Big BBQ Day. All our local besties were present! (Twitter names to follow) @goostersd, @uberglitterati, @tenthmuse, @richardallen, @dano413, and non-twitter Matt. Such a great time at the Tiki Bar (which is now an official place on Foursquare) Around 7 I had to rush Brian off to the airport! I got back in time to clean the kitchen…
It was the best weekend ever. We all love Brian, and no one wanted him to go home to the fiery hot Phoenix…

I treated myself to a movie over the weekend. Twilight.
I know, I know… Whatevs. I read the entire series. I admit I *loved* the books. LOVED even. In all caps. Just like that. I expected to hate the movie. I figured it would be nothing like the book. I thought the characters would be all wrong. You know what? I loved it. Sure it was not nearly as amazing as the book. There were moments where I was like, ” This scene will never work”. Sometimes I was right (like the sparkly skin bit, but I thought that was dumb in the book too… I come from the Anne Rice people). Sometimes it was so dead on I got goosebumps. The 2 leads were the best cast, in my opinion. Edward especially. Robert Pattinson is soooo dreamy! Anyhoo, I loved the thing overall and could have sat and watched it again. It was late tho, so I had to go to bed.
Other than that it was a fun yet low-key weekend. A drink here, a brunch there, some good quality time with friends. Not the whole group, but still… Nice. Yanno?
work is crazy. The two top positions in the building were replaced. One had retired, one was promoted. The new leaders reported today. The rest of management (mostly me) was on edge all day. I hate change unless I create it, and even then it is a process. So I kinda feel all chaotic in my mental workspace right now. Plus the new “second in command” chews gum. I HATE *HATE* gum chewing. all the ‘smack, smack, smack, smack, *pop*, smack…’ makes me absolutely insane. I may have issue with that. Of course I will mention it, but Day One didn’t seem like the time.
So how are you?

what's up?
Whew! What a week! What a summer!
In fact, where did summer go? I mean srsly? It’s already Back to School! (I capitalize it, because in my industry it’s more than period of time, it’s an event.) I have to say tho, I have been having a blast. Every weekend off Richard and I have had places to go, things to do, and met new folks all along the way. It has been the Summer of Twitter, as we have made a few Twitter friends into real friends. That’s always odd at first. Going from contacting someone online thru Twitter, to actually dialing them up on the phone and getting together for drinks or meals. Heh. I love Twitter. Anyhoo, I think my summer is coming to a bit of an early close, as my work schedule has me booked the next three weekends. I don’t socialize much on my working weekends because the hours are just to extreme, what with the 5 and 7 AM starts or the late closing shifts. After the 3 weeks of work my parents arrive. 7 days of tour guide. Wee! Then we are already into October. Bam. holiday. 2 months of loooong work days, few days off… Another year passes.
Do you see why I am always tense? The passing of time is so cruel for us career retail people! Gawd I am stressed out now. Heh.

whaat!
I was thinking it’d be fun to post a weekend recap or something. Then I realized it’s Wednesday. Erm. It would all be old news. Next time, I guess.
Yikes. I need to really refocus myself. But not today. I don’t think today is a good day for that at all.

what's up?
For the first time since we have lived in San Diego, Richard and I are off for Pride Weekend. So what do we do?
Skip town! Really… We are going up to LA tonight for a bit of Outfest ‘08 and an after party. Fred mentioned it to us and I think Richard caught him off guard when he said he wanted to go. Now we are both going! We’ll be back sometime Saturday so we aren’t missing everything. Heh. I just think it’s funny we are leaving town.

what's up?
As you probably know I am getting the new iPhone on the 11th (or as soon as I possibly can since I work that weekend). So I have been watching the iPhone news pretty closely to be sure I can transition. You see, I’ve not had mine *that* long, and there is a 2 year contract and all… Most of those questions are now answered:
iPhone 3G questions, answered
I can’t even wait..

what's up?
I neglected my blog yesterday. I hate when I do that. Makes me feel like an absentee parent or something. I could have at least put up a funny YouTube or something. *sigh*
Anyhoo, not much has happened. I just finished Father’s Day weekend, which I didn’t think I would survive this year. Not due to myself, but other issues. work is complicated, and that’s as far as I’ll go with that here. Yanno. I barely had a moment to call my own dad and wish him a happy Father’s Day! So I am thrilled that the weekend is finally done. This week looks to be normal. That is a relief. I think I need to go be social. Maybe the Cruise Director *cough* Fred *cough* has got the SYTYCD parties going now. Auditions are over right? It’d be nice to see all the Idol Boys again…
And there really needs to be a Happy Hour this afternoon. Really.

Or more accurately, working the weekend. Three to midnight no less. I already feel frustrated about missing all the fun stuff my friends are probably doing..
Anyone wanna stop by for cocktails at 12:30 AM??
