ST ANDREW’S business owners Glenn Malloy and Steve Davies have today (28and April 2022) have announced the expansion of their popular retail offering in St Andrews lifestyle store and cafe, Spoiled Life, with plans to open a new store on the horizon.
The three-tier store, established in February 2020, just as the pandemic loomed, now offers clothing lines, shoes and accessories from 11 designers with customer inquiries coming in from across Scotland. With the addition of clothing, Glenn and Steve hope to broaden the store’s appeal to their existing customers, while reaching new shoppers through store footfall and website traffic. The apparel launch signifies the next exciting step on a long journey for the Spoiled Life brand,
The pandemic has brought significant challenges to Spoiled Life, located just yards from Spoiled Hairdressing, Steve and Glenn’s original business venture. Instead of allowing customers to browse the lifestyle and homeware offering in the quirky Greyfriars Garden space, the team expanded its online retail offering and sold cakes and coffees take-out, serving over 300 customers a day from their makeshift door stand.
The spring clothing collection includes two brands for men: Kestin, La Paz, five women: Thinking Mu, Sancia, Otto D’ame, Idano, Hartford, and shoes and accessories from: Flamingos Life, Sleepers Shoes, DMY by DMY and HVISK. Each brand’s unique heritage stretches from Scotland to Australia with a few chic European stops along the way. The team plans to add many more brands to the portfolio for the Fall/Winter 2022 season.
Co-owner Glenn Malloy said: “St Andrews is multicultural and teeming with tourism. We lost count of the students, locals and tourists who walked through the doors looking for something a little different. The clothing offer will be a breath of fresh air for our customers, who already trust our sense of style. The Spring collection is really chic. We’ve created the perfect capsule wardrobe that oozes elegance, brimming with laid-back summer looks and some standout, show-stopping pieces. Each is timeless, can be dressed up or down and paired with our stunning accessories. We are excited to extend our stylish vision beyond customers’ homes and into their wardrobes.
The Spoiled brand has existing links with the St Andrews fashion scene, as the team often volunteer to style models for the University of St Andrews Don’t Walk charity fashion shows and have recently partnered with the charity to hold pop-ups and glamorous photo shoots.
Always a dream of Steve and Glenn, the decision was made to launch a café and a lifestyle boutique while the duo traveled through Europe. In keeping with the store’s aesthetic, it’s only fitting that the first clothing drop reflects their love for travel and European trends. Handpicked by the passionate couple, along with store manager Juliet Downes, the new clothes are available to buy on the website and on the ground floor of the store.
Style tips and advice will be offered to customers by Store Manager Juliet Downes. Juliet said: “The brands we have on board are each unique in their own way. We have already received inquiries from customers from as far away as Edinburgh and Aberdeen as many brands are not stocked in other stores in Scotland.
